Nick DeAtley

2025-2026 marks Nick DeAtley’s eighth season with the Lynn men’s basketball program. DeAtley joined the Fighting Knights as a graduate assistant in 2018, a season in which Lynn finished with a 25-7 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
 
The following season in 2019-20, DeAtley was hired as an assistant coach before being promoted to head assistant prior to the 2021-22 season, at the time making him the youngest head assistant in the Sunshine State Conference.

2024-2025 DeAtley helped lead the Fighting Knights to a 21-9 overall record and a 14-6 mark in Sunshine State Conference play. Lynn made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018-19, advancing to the second round. 

The program set multiple single-season records, including:

  • Scoring average: 88.3 points per game
  • 3-point field goals made: 391
  • Total rebounds: 1,241
  • Rebounding average: 41.4 per game
  • Scoring margin: +11.9

DeAtley has been instrumental in assisting with bringing in and developing some of the most talented players in the Sunshine State with 6 All-SSC selections and the 2022-23 SSC Freshman of the Year. Throughout DeAtley’s time the Fighting Knights have had two Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List players, an NCAA Division II Statistical Champion for three-pointers, a D2CCA Second Team All-South Region Award winner and the Single Season program leader for 3 pointers made.

DeAtley leads several facets of the program including scouting, game strategy/preparation, recruiting, player development, film, as well as monitoring the team’s academic success.

2025 the Lynn University men’s basketball program led all of NCAA Division II with NABC honors court recipient awards for the first time in history. 
 
DeAtley, originally born in Bogota, Colombia, grew up in Washington, DC and is a graduate of South Lakes High School in Reston, Va. In 2018, he graduated from the College of William & Mary with a degree in American Studies, and earned his Masters in the Exceptional Student education program from Lynn.

DeAtley throughout his career has displayed his passion for volunteering with special needs students from diverse backgrounds through basketball at local palm beach county schools. DeAtley comes from a basketball family. His father, Bruce, played at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, and his uncle, Mark, is a long-time, highly regarded college and high school basketball official in South Florida.
