DJ Slifer was named as the assistant women's basketball coach for Lynn University in September of 2021.
Prior to joining the Fighting Knights, Coach Slifer served for three seasons as the assistant women's basketball coach at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2016-19), where he coached four all-conference players. In his first season at TAMUK, the Javelinas improved their win total from the previous year by nine games.
In 2015, Slifer joined the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he spent one season as an assistant coach and coached two all-conference honorees.
Slifer's coaching career began in 2013 when he joined the Indiana State University women's basketball program as a graduate assistant. During his stint with the Sycamores, the team won the Missouri Valley Championship in 2014.
Before beginning his journey as a coach, Slifer played basketball at the University of Central Missouri from 2008 to 2013. During that time, he helped lead the Mules to a 116-36 overall record, four MIAA conference championships and three NCAA Division II tournament appearances, including one Final Four berth in 2009 and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2010.
A 2012 graduate of the University of Central Missouri, Slifer earned a B.S. in Sports Management and was a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll selection. In 2015, he received his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Indiana State University. He resides in Wellington, Fla. with his fiancé Scott.
