Mindy Richmond

Mindy Richmond

Mindy Richmond was named the inaugural head coach of the Lynn University women’s lacrosse program on June 8, 2018 and instantly turned her Fighting Knights into a nationally ranked program.

Over the last three seasons, Richmond has guided Lynn to 38 wins, an IWLCA Division Top 20 ranking all three seasons, including the program’s first-ever SSC and NCAA Tournament appearances last spring.

In 2024, Lynn defeated four ranked teams, appeared in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 and Kristyn Johnson became the program’s first All-American after being selected by both the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse. The Fighting Knights were ranked as high as No. 10 in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll.

In 2023, Lynn finished 12-6 overall and ranked No. 22 in the final ILWomen/IWLCA Division II Poll. The Fighting Knights were ranked throughout the entire spring season and reach as high as No. 13 twice.

In 2022, she led Lynn through their first complete season as a program, leading the team to a 13-4 record in a season where the group climbed as high as No. 9 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine National Poll, No. 16 in the IWLCA Poll, and No. 2 in the NCAA South Region.

Prior to the Fighting Knights, Richmond was head coach of the IUP Crimson Hawks women's lacrosse team from 2009-18, where she amassed a record of 105-67 (.610), with seven double-digit win seasons, six consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason appearances and a program-record 31 straight weeks ranked in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll.

Richmond turned around a Crimson Hawk program that had been through five coaches in its first 11 years of existence, recorded just one winning season and managed more than three league victories just one time. By her second season, she became the program's all-time leader in wins, and in her third year at the helm led the first of seven consecutive double-digit win seasons.

During her time in Indiana, Pa., Richmond’s student-athletes garnered eight All-America selections, three freshmen All-America selections, 15 All-Region selections and 33 All-PSAC selections. She took home PSAC Coach of the Year honors in 2013 after starting the year with a school-record 11 straight wins. That season, 10 single-season school records were either tied or broken under Richmond's leadership.

Richmond’s high-powered offenses have been a staple of her teams throughout the years. In 2022, Lynn registered 276 goals, second in the SSC. In her time leading IUP, the Crimson Hawks ranked in the top-five in scoring offense twice and top-20 four times. Prior to her arrival at IUP, she served two seasons on the coaching staff of her alma mater, Gannon University, helping the Golden Knights to a 23-8 record and a pair of top-10 national rankings while leading one of the top offenses in the country.

During the 2006 season, Richmond was a volunteer assistant coach at Gannon following a record-breaking four-year playing career with the Golden Knights where was team captain for her junior and senior seasons. Following both campaigns, she was named to the IWLCA All-American team. As a senior, she led the nation in goals with 88, which were the most in school history and the fourth highest single-season total in Division II history. Richmond's 219 career goals are the third-highest total in Gannon history and the 15th-most all-time in the nation. Additionally, she shares the school record for goals in a game, reaching that mark when she scored nine times against Saint Vincent College in 2004. She also scored seven or more goals in a game a total of 10 times. In 2005, she was nominated by Gannon for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Richmond earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Gannon in 2005 and a Master's degree in Sports Science from IUP in 2012.
