Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Saint Leo on Saturday afternoon. Kelsey Butler stopped six shots but the Fighting Knights still drop to 4-4-1 overall and 1-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Saint Leo (4-5-1, 1-2-1 SSC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute of play following a LU miscue. Alicia Schuering was in the right place as the Fighting Knights defense saw their clearance deflect off of Schuering's shinn and ricochet back to the left post for the goal.
Lynn put the pressure on in the second half, holding the Lions without a shot for the first 15 minutes of play. But SLU was able to increase its lead with 61:46 on the clock as Cassie Barbaresi struck her shot off the left post for the goal.
Saint Leo's final goal came in the 85th minute when Chrissy Darwell slipped by the defense for a one-on-one attempt and buried her shot. Melissa Ortiz managed a team-high three shots.
The Fighting Knights return to action on Tuesday, October 23, at 4 p.m. when they face Palm Beach Atlantic in West Palm Beach, Fla.
