BOCA RATON, Fla. –The third-ranked Lynn University women's tennis team had another showing as they raced past St. Thomas (Fla.), 9-0, Tuesday night at the Perper Tennis Complex. The Fighting Knights are now 2-0 overall while the Bobcats fall to 1-2.
LU got out to a quick 3-0 start as they dominated the doubles matches with freshman Ioana Ivan and Andrea Berkova winning 8-3 at the No. 1 position. Seniors Jessica Yanoff and Eleonora Iannozzi were victorious, 8-1, in the second position while fellow senior Magdalena Ekert teamed with freshman Aleksandra Vukadinovic, who was making her Blue & White debut, to clam an 8-0 victory at No. 3.
In singles play, the Fighting Knights were equally as impressive with Ekert taking the first flight, 6-2, 6-1. In positions two through six, Lynn did not drop a single game, as Iannozzi, Ivan, Yanoff, Berkova and Vukadinovic all won 6-0, 6-0 in their respective matches.
The Blue & White are back in action this weekend when they travel to Valdosta, Ga., to take on #5 West Florida, Valdosta State and Auburn-Montgomery. LU goes up against the fifth-ranked Argos on Friday, followed by the host Blazers on Saturday and the Lady Senators on Sunday.
