Box Score 2 BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's softball team was swept in a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader by Tampa Saturday afternoon at the McCusker Softball Complex. The Spartans took the first game, 7-1 and then second game, 14-0 in five innings. The Fighting Knights fall to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the SSC while Tampa improves to 5-1 with a 2-0 SSC mark.
Carisa Cook led the Knights offensively with three base hits while Callie Darlin had a pair with one in both games.
LU was the first team all season to get to Tampa pitcher Deanna Henriott, who threw two no-hitters to start the season, including a perfect game in the opener against Bowie State. Behind two hits by Cook, Lynn recorded six hits off Henriott and plated a run in the bottom of the first to tie the score.
Unfortunately that was all the Knights could muster in the opener of the twinbill as Tampa got one in the third, four in the fourth and one in the sixth off Darlin.
Tampa scored in every inning to run-rule Lynn in the second game as Kari Walsh was very impressive in the circle for UT.
Lynn recorded just three hits in the second with the first coming on a bunt single by Brittany Gross. Darlin and Cook also recorded base knocks off Walsh in the second game.
The same two teams will meet tomorrow at 12 pm for a single game. Fans can follow the action by logging onto www.LynnFightingKnights.com and clicking on "Game Central."
