Valdosta, Ga. - Lynn University's third-ranked women's tennis team swept Valdosta State, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex. The Fighting Knights improve to 4-0 on the season while the Lady Blazers fall to 0-4.
The Blue & White made quick work of the Red & Black in doubles with Ioana Ivan/Andrea Berkova and Jessica Yanoff/Eleonora Iannozzi winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, 8-0. The sixth-ranked pair in the country, Magdalena Ekert/Isabell Raich defeated Juliana Boehn/Alina Nagel, 8-4.
The Fighting Knights were just as dominant in singles with Ivan, Yanoff and Berkova winning the third, fourth and fifth flights, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 6, Aleksanda Vukadinovic made quick work of Jahyna Pope, 6-0, 6-1.
At the top of the singles order, Ekert got by Sarah Braun, 7-5, in the first set before regrouping to win 6-2 in the second. Iannozzi, who was positioned in the second spot, beat Alina Nagel, 6-2, 6-2.
