Daytona Beach, Fla. – Lynn University's fifth-ranked men's tennis team won its third straight match by defeating No. 3 Embry Riddle 6-3 Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights improve to 6-2 while the Eagles fall to 5-3.
The Fighting Knights swept all three doubles matches with the 11th ranked pair of Willi Wolfer and Luca Pavanelli defeating Simon Felix and Berg 8-4 in the second flight. In the first slot, Alessandro Sarra and Vlad Cirla edged Chris Freeman and Peter Francis 8-6 while George Laffey and Benji Kendall were victorious at No. 3 doubles over Patrick Besch and Spencer.
Wolfer, Cirla and Voirin all Alex Voirin all won singles matches for Lynn to clinch the match. After dropping the first set, Wolfer came back to defeat Freeman 6-2, 7-5 in the next two frames. Cirla bested Besch in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) in the second slot while Voirin came back to defeat Spencer at No. 5, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Sarra and Pavanelli dropped their matches in the middle of the lineup to a pair of ranked opponents as did Kendall in the sixth position.
