Daytona Beach, Fla. - Lynn University's third-ranked women's tennis team remains undefeated after defeating No. 5 Embry Riddle, 8-1 Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are now 8-0 while the Eagles fall to 7-3.
Eleonora Iannozzi and Ioana Ivan paired up at No. 1 doubles to defeat the NAIA's top-ranked team of Yi Ching Chen and Josefine Strom 8-3. Also in doubles, No. 6 Isabell Raich and Magdalena Ekert defeated Rocio Freg and Kanadova 8-4 at No. 2 while Jessica Yanoff and Andrea Berkova defeated Montero/Merova 8-5 in the third position.
The Fighting Knights dropped just one singles match with Ekert going down to Chen, the second-ranked singles player in the NAIA 6-1, 6-4. Following the first flight, the Blue & White were dominant as usual sweeping the next five singles matches. Ivan, the 22nd ranked singles player upset No. 10 Freg 6-2, 6-0 and Yanoff, the ninth ranked player bested No. 41 Strom 6-0, 6-1 in the battle of ranked players.
In the second position, Iannozzi defeated Kanadova 6-0, 6-4 and Raich bested Merova 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth slot. Aleksandra Vukadinovic played in the sixth position and defeated Nilsson 6-4, 6-3.
