BOCA RATON, Fla.—Lynn University's men's tennis team pitched a shutout against the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish in a 9-0 victory on Valentine's Day at the Perper Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
On the doubles side, Lynn (3-0) only surrendered six games to the Sailfish as the number three singles duo of George Laffey and Max Kouyate finished first with an 8-0 win over Nick Hines and Jaime Verd.
The Blue & White's No. 8 team of Luca Pavanelli and Willi Wolfer boasted an 8-2 versus Luke Bolanos and Giuseppe Guarnieri then the No. 4 pair of Amaury Van Haelen and Vlad Cirla grabbed an 8-4 win over Mick Lyons and Eric Wade.
In singles, Lynn collected six sets with 6-0 victories. Number 12-ranked Cirla went 6-0, 6-0 at number two singles versus Lyons and Van Haelen also went 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth singles flight against Hines.
In the third singles flight, No. 49 Pavanelli collected a 6-1, 6-0 win over Guarnieri while Benji Kendall defeated Verd 6-0, 6-1 at number six singles.
Kouyate and Wolfer were the only Knights to not post at least one 6-0 set win. Kouyate dropped Wade 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth singles spot while Lynn's top singles player and No. 5 ranked Wolfer amassed a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bolanos.
