BOCA RATON, Fla.—With wins in two out of the three doubles matches, Lynn University's top-ranked women's tennis team captured a 7-2 win over the Saint Leo Lions on Saturday in Sunshine State Conference action.
Lynn's (4-0, 2-0) No. 5 doubles tandem of Ioana Ivan and Sabine Krause picked up an 8-3 win over No. 12 Laura Kemkes and Emily Singleton.
Kim Przeszlowski and Ana Kriz amassed an 8-3 victory against Saint Leo's Maria Benkirane and Caroline Ebner but the Lions avoided the doubles sweep with a win in the third fight as Adrianna Daszkiewicz and Jeanette McDonald beat the Fighting Knights' Andrea Berkova and Aleks Vukadinovic 8-6.
In number one singles, No. 5 Ivan rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kemkes and Berkova won 6-3, 6-4 at number two singles over Singleton.
Krause battled the Lions' Daszkiewicz in the first set but claimed the win in set number one via the tie-breaker. Krause then cruised with a 7-6(7-3), 6-3 win at number three singles.
In the fourth flight, Kriz totaled a 6-3, 6-4 win against McDonald while Przeszlowski fell to Menkirane 6-0, 6-4. Vukadinovic dominated in number six singles with a 6-0 6-0 blanking of Ebner.
The Knights make the quick turnaround and travel to Lakeland, Fla. for another SSC match against Florida Southern tomorrow, February 19 starting at high noon.
