Melbourne, Fla.—Lynn University's softball team took a 6-1 loss to the Florida Tech Panthers in Sunshine State Conference play on Friday.
Bianca Savulak and Kaci Vassallo both collecting doubles as the Panthers plated four runs from Lynn (1-32, 0-10) errors.
After Lynn went down in order in the first, the Panthers loaded the base with one out but Fighting Knights' pitcher Missy Montgomery retired the next two batters to end the Florida Tech threat.
The Panthers struck first in the second inning with two runs on one hit. Lynn committed an error in the inning, making both Panthers' runs unearned.
After a scoreless third inning, Lynn cut the two-run deficit down to one on back-to-back doubles. Savulak started the third inning with a double to left center followed by a Vassallo double to right center on a 2-2 count to score Savulak.
Kasey Murray then moved Vassallo to third on a ground out to third and Callie Darlin ended the inning for Lynn on a hard-hit ground ball to first.
The Panthers widened the gap in the bottom of the fourth on a Brianna Barth two-run home run to make it 4-1. Then in the sixth, Florida Tech added two more runs off a Lynn error to make it a 6-1 game.
Montgomery amassed a complete game for Lynn in the circle, going six innings, giving up eight hits and only two earned runs on 91 pitches.
Carisa Cook tallied the only other Lynn hit to total three hits for the Fighting Knights to the Panthers eight.
