Saint Leo, Fla.—Lynn University's softball team closed out the 2012 season with a 6-1 loss to the Saint Leo Lions in the Sunshine State Conference season finale on Monday.

Lauren Garceau ended the year as Lynn's (2-47, 1-23) leader in batting average with a .299 mark and a double in today's season finale. Garceau also added an RBI, scoring the team's leader in runs, Bianca Savulak, who totaled 12 runs scored on the season to tie for most on the team with Anne Marie Van Casteren.

The Lions put the first run up on a walk from Lynn starting pitcher Missy Montgomery then a two-out triple to make it a 1-0 game.

Saint Leo added three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth before Lynn put its mark on the board with a run in the top of the sixth.

With two outs in the sixth, Savulak singled to left field then scored on a Garceau double. Kaci Vassallo then ended the inning on a strikeout.

Montgomery totaled six innings pitched on the day to take her season total to 180.1. The freshman gave up nine hits but only four of Saint Leo's six runs were earned.
