BOCA RATON, Fla.-Lynn University's men's tennis team defeated St. Thomas 9-0 on Tuesday night to start off it's 2013 campaign. Vlad Cirla, who is ranked 17th in the nation in singles defeated Nicholas Etienne in two sets of 6-2. Willi Wolfer, whos nationally ranked as the fourth best singles player, took down Grover Ordonez in sets of 6-1 and 6-0. The two teamed up as the No. 4 best duo in the nation to win 8-1 over Etienne and Arturo Romero.
The two other doubles teams for Lynn also won 8-1 in their matches. The returners Alessio Iannozzi and Max Kouyate were very comfortable in their victory while newcomers Simon Gloeckner and Pavel Mohja teamed up for their first ever doubles victory as Knights.
Pavel Mohja was the only man in Blue and White to go into a tie breaker round. He tied Juan Bravo in sets of 4-6, 6-4, before winning the tie breaker 10-8. No. 28 Iannozzi won his singles competition 6-2, 60 against Romero while Kouyate swept Ariel Listo Argul 6-0 in both sets. Gloeckner was the last to finish with a 6-3, 6-4 victory. After trailing 4-1 in the first set, he won five straight to win the match and finalize the Knights 9-0 over St. Thomas.
