Softball Blanked by Florida Tech

Boca Raton, Fla.- Lynn University's softball team fell to Florida Tech, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights (16-15) were led by Kaci Vassallo, who went two-for-three with eight put outs in the field. Kasey Murray (8-10) pitched a complete seven innings allowing four hits, three earned runs while striking out four. Amanda Smith earned the win in the circle for the Panthers, her fourteenth of the season. 

After a scoreless first inning, Florida Tech scored one run on one hit in the top of the second. A Double to center field from Amanda Bueno scored Ashley Montion from second base for the 1-0 lead. With a lead-off double followed by a single through the left side and a four pitch walk to Peterson, Montion hit a sacrifice fly that scored Kara Dickinson from third who tagged to claim the 2-0 Panthers lead. A bases loaded walk scored the final FIT run in the second before the Fighting Knights were able to escape the jam, trailing 3-0. 

LU left six runners on base in the loss while Florida Tech stranded 11. The Fighting Knights fall to 2-5 in the Sunshine State Conference while FIT advances to 8-2. The two teams will meet Sunday, March 24 for the final two games of the three-game series. The double header is set for 12 pm at the Lynn University Softball Field.
