LAKELAND, Fla.- Lynn University's men's tennis team advanced to 11-1 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Division I Detroit Mercy on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Knights were led by the duo Vlad Cirla and Pavel who won 8-5 in doubles play before each picking up singles victories. Cirla, ranked 17 nationally, secured a 6-2, 6-4 win while Mojha won 6-2, 6-3 in the third spot.
Simon Gloeckner and Alessio Iannozzi defeated Detroit Mercy's number two doubles team to help lead the Fighting Knights to the 2-1 doubles score en route to claim Lynn's 1-0 lead. No. 28 Iannozzi won his first singles set, 6-3, before dropping the second set, 4-6. In a third set Iannozzi claimed the win with a 10-5 score. Gloeckner picked up the final win for LU in singles. Detroit Mercy's two points came off of a singles victory over LU's Giulio Gomba and a win by default in the number six singles spot.
