A two-out rally in the top of the fifth inning kept the game going when Anne Marie Van Casteren started things off with a single to left field. After advancing on a wild pitch, Murray drew a full-count walk. An infield single for Carvatta followed by an error by the shortstop would advance the runners an extra base and score Van Casteren. A single from Campos would score Murray from third for Lynn to face an 8-2 deficit.

An RBI walk in the bottom of the sixth inning would score West Virginia Wesleyan's ninth run. With bases loaded Vassallo fielded a ground ball and threw the runner out at home to stop the Bearcats from scoring another.

In game two against Findlay, the Oilers would score first in the top of the second inning with a bases loaded walk from Courtney Dwyer. Lynn would build a threat in the bottom of the fifth inning with a full-count walk from Madisen Cross. Bianca Savulak would reach on an error by the shortstop but a fast line drive from Kochergen to the pitcher would end the inning with two runners on base.
