Miami Shores, Fla.- Lynn University's women's tennis team dropped its final regular season match, 8-1, to No. 2 Barry on Wednesday afternoon. The Fighting Knights finish the regular season 14-3 overall and 5-2 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Buccaneers took a 3-0 lead after doubles play when the eleventh ranked duo of Elisabeth Adanda and Emma Onila topped Lynn's Valentine Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan, 8-5. Ivan and Confalonieri rank third in Division II. Ana Kriz and Aleks Vukandinovic were defeated, 8-2, by Kimmy Twelker and Linda Fritschken in the number two spot. Kim Przeszlowski and Alina Jane lost 8-3 to Karina Goia and Isabela Miro.
No. 13 Ivan was the only Fighting Knight to score a point for Lynn in the loss. Ivan won at the number two singles spot in two sets of 6-1 over No. 41 Emma Onila. No. 4 Confalonieri lost in sets of 6-4, 6-3 to No. 28 Abanda in her second singles loss of the season. Przeszlowski was defeated by No. 33 Fritschken in two sets of 6-1. Kriz retired, down 3-0 in her first set to Twelker while Vukadinovic and Jane were both defeated as well.
Barry remains undefeated with a 21-0 mark and an 8-0 SSC slate, securing the top seed in the Sunshine State Conference Championships. The tournament, hosted by Florida Tech, takes place at South County Regional Park April 18-20 in Boca Raton, Fla.
