Boca Raton, Fla.- Lynn University's men's tennis team blanked the Tritons of Eckerd College, 5-0, on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference tournament. The fourth ranked Fighting Knights advance to 16-5 overall in 2013 and will face No. 15 Saint Leo in the SSC Semi-finals Friday afternoon.
Lynn set into cruise control with a 3-0 sweep of doubles led by No. 3 Willi Wolfer and Vald Cirla in the top spot. The duo defeated Stephen Felman and Luke Burton, 8-3. Max Kouyate and Alessio Iannozzi blanked Dylan Randazzo and Frazier Springfield, 8-0, while Simon Gloeckner and Pavel Mojha beat Jonathan Cheng and Madison Durley, 8-3.
Wolfer, who ranks ninth nationally in singles, didn't allow a point by Randazzo in a 6-0, 6-0, victory in the top singles spot for the Fighting Knights. No. 27 Kouyate's 6-0, 6-1 win at the third spot over Springfield sealed LU's victory advancing them to the SSC Semi-finals. No. 23 Cirla, No. 47 Iannozzi, Mojha and Gloeckner were all up a set of the Tritons when the match was halted in the 5-0 victory.
