Fort Lauderdale, Fla- Lynn University's softball team dropped the final game of the three-game Sunshine State Conference series to Nova Southeastern, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. The Fighting Knights (18-23) were led offensively by Kasey Murray and Anne Marie Van Casteren who each batted in a run for LU.

The Sharks struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Emery scored on an error by Devin Kochergen. Lynn answered back in the top of the third inning when a lead-off single to left field by freshman Cydney Schmidt started a Fighting Knights rally. Christina Carvatta reached on an error which placed runners on first and second for LU. 

A bunt single by Danielle McNeill loaded the bases for senior Bianca Savulak. Two consecutive forced outs at home plate kept the Blue and White from scoring before a throwing error by the catcher would plate the first Knights run to tie the game at 1-1. An RBI-single from Kasey Murray would give Lynn the 2-1 advantage. 

The Knights defense ran into some trouble in the bottom of the fifth inning when Nova Southeastern scored three runs on three hits to take a 4-2 lead. LU scored its third run in the top of the sixth when Murray doubled to deep left center and scored on a single by Van Casteren. 

Missy Montgomery moves to 8-10 in the circle with the SSC loss while Erika Garcia advances to 4-3. Murray went two-for-three with one RBI and a run scored.
