Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's women's soccer team overcame a two-goal halftime deficit to earn a 3-3 tie against Florida Southern in the team's home opener on Saturday afternoon. Summer Schults, Meghan Dolan and Georgia Robert each tallied goals for the Fighting Knights, who move to 1-2-1 overall.
The Moccasins (1-3-1) were able to find goals in the early and late goings of the opening half. Kara Moore scored just 12:50 into play before Margot Chowansky made it a 2-0 FSC advantage two minutes before the break.
Lynn's offense came to life midway in the second, using its speed on the outside. Jordyn Turner and Linzi Martin turned around the Florida Southern defense with a combination of pass that saw Martin speed past her man and send a cross from the right corner. Schults sat waiting on the left post and easily tapped in the ball for her first goal.
Nearly 10 minutes later the match was tied. Amanda Feldstein's attempt nailed the right post but Robert recovered at the top of the box and tipped a pass to Dolan. The junior midfielder ripped a shot across the six-yard box inside the right post to knot the match at two.
The Fighting Knights continued their pressure and capitalized on a failed clearance in the 79th minute. With the keeper out of the net and FSC defense pushing up, Kirstie Schults collected an errant pass and found Robert near the top-left corner. Robert chipped her shot over keeper Erin Moseley and underneath the crossbar to put LU on top 3-2.
Florida Southern, though, caught Lynn celebrating too much after the goal as Moore scored 14 seconds later to send the game into overtime.
The Mocs looked strong in extra time but the Blue & White caught their second wind late in the second OT with a couple of high-pressure attacks. A takedown of Amanda Feldstein inside the box gave LU a penalty box and a chance for victory but Moseley saved Martin's PK attempt to secure the draw.
Florida Southern out shot Lynn 25-19 and held a 6-3 advantage in corners. Moseley logged 10 saves while LU's Caitlin Shaver stopped five shots on the day.
