Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Senior Paige Meggison scored the first two career goals of her career as Lynn University's women's soccer team snapped a three-game winless streak with a 3-1 victory over Flagler on Tuesday afternoon. Meghan Dolan scored her second goal of the season to help the Fighting Knights improve to 2-2-1 overall.
Junior Meghan Dolan was able to put LU on the board early when a shot from outside the box rebounded off Flagler keeper Casey Merson's hand. Summer Schults chased after the loose ball and found Dolan with an open look and capitalized on the open net, giving Lynn a 1-0 lead.
Meggison added the game-winner in the 29th minute when a Flagler defender cleared a corner off her head to the top 18-yard box. Lynn's central defender took the ball out of the air using her chest and first-timed it to the top left corner of the goal, leaving Merson no chance and giving Lynn a two score cushion.
Lynn kept the quick pace for the remainder of the first half registering 10 shots on goal to Flagler's five and took the advantage in corner kicks 6-2.
The Blue & White was able to put the finishing touches in the 52nd minute when Meggison fired a bomb at the top of the box, off a pass from Linzi Martin, finding the upper 90 of the left corner for the second time.
A flawless game was tarnished in the 72nd minute when Cory Amend ripped a free kick from 25-yards out right of center to put Flagler (3-3-0) on the board.
Lynn outshot Flagler 21-10 overall in the match but the Saints grabbed an 8-7 advantage on corner kicks. Caitlin Shaver turned away six shots while Flagler's goal keeping tandem of Merson and Kaeta Choquette combined for eight saves.
