Box Score Miami Shores, Fla. – A goal just before the break was the difference in the game as Lynn University's women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Barry on Saturday night. The Fighting Knights drop to 2-3-1 overall.
Holding possession for much of the first half and running the Buccaneers ragged, the Blue & White appeared to be on the verge of finding the back of the net. Barry keeper Becca Rogers needed to make three outstanding saves as Lynn could not break through.
Looking to head into the locker room scoreless, the Bucs (5-3-0) were able to score the decisive goal with 49 seconds to play when Lauren Manna sent in a cross from the right sideline and Dominique Richardson chipped her shot over Caitlin Shaver.
The Fighting Knights continued to put pressure on Barry in the second half as Rogers turned away six more attempts. Kirstie Schults and Linzi Martin each had close calls near the frame but each attempt was thwarted by the Bucs.
Barry outshot Lynn 14-13 but the Fighting Knights led 9-3 with attempts on target. The Bucs also held a slight 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
