Box Score Melbourne, Fla. – A barrage of early goals took Lynn University's women's soccer team out of its game in an eventual 8-0 loss to Florida Tech on Wednesday night. The Fighting Knights drop to 4-8-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Florida Tech (5-7-1, 2-5-0 SSC) scored three times in the first 18 minutes and closed out the half leading 5-0 over the Blue & White. Caitlin Shaver turned away one save before being replaced by Katie Nimitz.
The Panthers tallied three more goals in the second half as Nimitz was able to stop two shots in her second appearance of the year.
Lynn looked as they would get on the scoreboard late in the second half as Lauren Handley ripped a shot to the top left shelf off a corner kick but Julia Kantor tipped the attempt over the crossbar.
The Panthers held an 18-5 advantage in shots but Lynn was even with Florida Tech, 5-5, in corner kicks.
