BOCA RATON Fla.- Lynn University's women's tennis team silenced No. 30 Palm Beach Atlantic (1,3) , 9-0, Tuesday evening at the Perper Tennis Complex. The sixth-ranked Fighting Knights improve to 4-0 overall 1-0 in the Sunshine State Conference and will host Eckerd on Saturday, February 15, in SSC play.
In the doubles action Lynn was able to take control of the night with a 3-0 sweep. Lynn's top duo, who ranks fifth nationally, Valentine Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan took down Veena Vasque and Yoanna Peshev, 8-2. Rosalie Willig and Andrea Berkova claimed an 8-4 win over PBA's Jessica Wharton and Maja Jovic. Alina Jane and Kim Przeszlowski blanked Vilja Vahatalo and Liddy Robinson, 8-0, in the third spot.
The Blue & White continued their dominant performance in singles play, with all six games ending in straight sets. No. 11 Ivan was the first to finish sweeping Wharton 6-0, 6-0, in the third spot. Jane's victory over Jovic in sets of 6-0 helped Lynn clinch the win. Aleks Vukadinovic was the final Lynn player to sweep in two straight sets, 6-0, in the sixth spot over PBA's Robinson.
The top-ranked Division II player, Confalonieri, battled back-and-forth in the first set against Vasquez and was able to defeat the Sailfish's top player 6-4, 6-1. Willig was next to finish in the second slot winning 6-2, 6-1 over Peshev and Preszlowski sealed the deal with a win in the fifth spot against Vahatalo to complete the shut out.
