Lynn University's No. 3-ranked tennis team silenced Bethune Cookman (2-4), 9-0, Sunday afternoon at the Perper Tennis Complex. The Fighting Knights move to 3-0 before their next match on Wednesday, February 12, hosting Palm Beach Atlantic at 5 p.m.
Lynn's impressive doubles teams highlight some of the best in the country. No. 1-ranked Valentine Confalonieri paired with No. 4-ranked Ioana Ivan in addition too Andrea Berkova who ranks eighth. The first twosome of Confalonieri and Ivan, who rank second in the nation as a pair, defeated Mina Matsuba and Maria Sablina 8-4. Aleks Vukadinovic and Andrea Berkova claimed an 8-2 match over Cookman's Elizabeth NyeNwe and Gaby Chinchilla. Alina Jane and Kim Przeszlowski blanked Anicia Ifill and Valentina Beresiarte, 8-0, in the third spot.
Heading the singles, Confalonieri overpowered Matsuba 6-2,6-3. Rosalie Willig cruised by NyeNwe, 6-1, 6-1. Ivan silenced Sablina 6-0,6-1 at the number three spot to take the match 5-0. The last three singles played to eight to finish out the match. Berkova took down Chinchilla 8-2 at the four spot. Przeslowski and Jane finished off their matches in an effortless 8-3, and 8-4 fashion.
