Box Score 2 BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Lynn University softball team was taken down by Rollins in a double header on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights fell in the opener 2-0 before dropping game two 4-2. Devin Kochergen had two runs batted in on the day while Missy Montgomery pitched seven innings, giving up only five hits and two runs in the opener. The Fighting Knights move 11-9 overall, and 0-3 in Sunshine State Conference play.
In the first game, both teams had trouble getting runs in, Montgomery stymied Rollins (12-5, 3-0 SSC), it wasn't until the sixth inning when the Tars left fielder Courtney Durbin singled to left field, driving in the only two runs of the game. Sara Vazquez and Kochergen noted Lynn's only two hits of the game.
Game two, Rollins scored two runs in the first inning but the Fighting Knights answered back immediately with a two-run homer by Kochergen. The bomb marked her fifth of the season and second of the series.
Kasey Murray tossed five innings and picked up the loss after Rollins scored once in third and again the in fifth.
Rollins would score twice more to take their second win of the day and claim the series 3-0.
The Fighting Knights will be back on the diamond Monday, March 3, against Ave Maria for their second meeting this season in a double header. First pitch is set for 12:45 pm.
