No. 6 Women's Tennis Tops No. 5 Columbus State

Savannah, Ga.- Lynn University's sixth-ranked women's tennis team defeated No. 5 Columbus State, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights improve to 16-1 overall while the Cougars fall to 10-2. Valentine Confalonieri had a stellar day on the court defeating No. 2 Paola Cigui in two sets.

The Blue & White swept doubles play, 3-0. No. 5 Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan defeated No. 8 Cigui and Beatriz Leon, 8-5, while Aleks Vukadinovic and Rosalie Willig took down Camila Tobar and Olivera Jokic, 8-6, at the No. 2 spot. Andrea Berkova and Alina Jane blanked Saravinder Pannu and Laura Chapman at the number three doubles spot.

Top-ranked Confalonieri defeated Cigui, 6-2, 6-3, while No. 11 Ivan defeated Tobar at No. 3 singles for both to remain undefeated in singles this season. No. 21 Andrea Berkova won 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 5 spot over Chapman to score Lynn's sixth point. Willig and Jane both fell in three sets to the Cougars. Willig was taken down at the No. 2 spot, 3-6, 7-6, 10-12, while Jane lost 7-5, 0-6, 5-10. Olivera Tadijin beat Lynn's Vukadinovic at No. 6 singles, 7-6, 3-6, 10-8.

Lynn returns home to the Perper Tennis Complex on Wednesday, March 19 for a non-conference match against No. 11 New York Tech.
