Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University began the home season on Thursday night with a 3-0 victory over Clark Atlanta in the opener of the Boca Raton Courtyard by Marriott Classic. With the win Lynn improves to 2-1 on the season.
Elyse Fleck continued her hot start to her senior campaign setting a single-game record for hitting percentage with a .765 clip. As a unit the Blue & White's .472 hitting percentage was the second-highest for a single match in program history. To go with the milestone the Tigard, Ore., native led the team with 13 kills and two blocks assisted. Marissa Tandron had a game-high 32 sets while also serving three aces. Defensively Nikki Haben paced the team with a season-high 13 digs.
The Fighting Knights began the contest with a kill from Fleck and led the rest of the contest. An early 6-0 run set the tone in the 25-16 first set win. Lynn held Clark Atlanta to a -.080 hitting percentage in the opener. Fleck led four hitters with multiple kills in the set with four while Lydia West, Claire Angelich and Katie Knight all had two. Haben provided six digs in the victory.
Set two began in similar fashion to the first as Fleck led off with a kill and Lynn went on a 5-0 run to take control. The Fighting Knights ended the set with on a 4-0 run, capped off by a service ace from Tandron. The sophomore from Jacksonville, Fla., provided a set-high 13 assists as well in the set. Angelich and Fleck both had four kills while Liga Strautniece and West each had three. Defensively, Haben had five digs. 
One set away from their first home victory of 2014, Lynn began the third frame with an 8-0 run and managed to maintain a double-digit lead for the majority of the contest. Fleck went a perfect 5-5 in the finale as Lynn hit .750 as a team. Tandron had nine assists while the defense was balanced with Lizzy Raffa, Haben and Tandron all having two digs. Kendall Peterson made her first appearance of the season in the set, recording a kill and a service ace.
