St. Petersburg, Fla. – Lynn University's fifth-ranked women's tennis team took on Eckerd on Friday afternoon, sweeping the Tritons 9-0 for the first Sunshine State Conference win of 2015. With the win Lynn improves to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in SSC play.
Lynn continued to dominate in singles action, not dropping a single set in any of the six contests. 20th ranked Willig kept her perfect singles record in tact with a 6-0, 6-1 match with Trapp on court two. Confalonieri, the top ranked Division II player, swept Hawn at the premier spot 6-1, 6-0 to clinch the win for the Fighting Knights. Gledacheva performed flawlessly, leaving her opponent scoreless in a 6-0, 6-0 contest.
In the bottom draw, Jane collected her fifth victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 score in the five slot over Katie Benn. Cuevas added on to the lead in the forth position with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Naula Making her first appearance of the season, Przeszlowski won 6-1, 6-2 at court six over Fridrik.
The Fighting Knights are back in action on Saturday, February 21, when they take on Hillsborough Community College, ranked 23rd among Junior Colleges and Community Colleges.
