BOCA RATON, Fla. - Rain was the common theme throughout the day for Lynn University but the fifth-ranked women's tennis team was able to finish a 5-0 victory over Tampa on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights improve to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Martina Gledacheva and Kim Przeszlowski needed little time to dispatch of their opponents, Jenelle Morgan/Cameron Moskol, 8-0 at the No. 3 doubles position to claim the first point of the match. Carolina Cuevas and Grace Mpassy topped Gianna PInasco/Emily Hewland 8-2 and Valentine Confalonieri and Rosalie Willig completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory at the top doubles spot.
Cuevas and Mpassy continued their strong play into singles action where they each won 6-0 in their first sets. Cuevas held a 2-1 advantage in the second set over Hewland, and Mpassy a 2-0 lead against Morgan, when both of the Spartans players retired to make it a 5-0 in favor of the Blue & White.
Mother Nature then intervened, forcing the conclusion of the match.
