Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's softball team fell to Saint Leo in the first game of the three-game Sunshine State Conference series, 2-0, on Friday afternoon. The Fighting Knights fall to 20-20 overall and 10-9 in SSC action while SLU is now 34-12 and 10-9 in league play. Francais Olexa was credited with the loss throwing a complete game allowing seven hits and two runs, both unearned.
Saint Leo put its first run of the game on the board in the fourth inning when Cassie Boggs scored from third on a throwing error by Lynn's Sara Vazquez for a 1-0 lead. An inning later the Lions tallied their second unearned run when Adriana Sanders singled to right centerfield scoring Rachael Heath for a 2-0 lead.
The Fighting Knights were unable to plate any runs throughout the remainder of the game falling 2-0.
Christina Carvatta and Cherise McEnery were the only two members of the Blue & White squad to record hits as SLU's Alana Tabel (15-5) earned the win going the distance allowing no runs while striking out two.
The two teams will meet for the twin bill of the series on Saturday, April 18. Game one of the double header is slated for 1 pm at the Lynn Softball Field.
