Women's Soccer Battles Tropical Storm, Florida Southern to Draw

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn University's women's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit, a 30 minute delay due to a tornado warning and torrential downpour from Tropical Storm Philippee to earn a 5-5 draw with Florida Southern in its regular season finale.  The match was called at the start of the second overtime due to an unplayable field.  Donish Henry-Cole notched her second career hat trick.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
    •    Florida Southern scored a minute into the match on a misplayed ball by the Lynn defense and took a 2-0 lead in the 38th minute.
    •    Henry-Cole scored in the 43rd minute but Florida Southern extended its lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 44th minute.
    •    Gabriela Moreiera notched a goal with .01 on the clock before half to cut the deficit.
    •    Brittney Benedict evened the match with a goal just after the break on an assist from Morgan Meltzer and Henry-Cole.
    •    Florida Southern added two goals midway through the second half but two goals by Henry-Cole in the 73rd and 81st minutes sent the match into overtime.
    •    Lynn outshot FSC 18-14 and held a slim 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
    •    Henry-Cole is the first women's soccer player to record two hat tricks in a career since Melissa Ortiz (2008-11).
    •    Henry-Cole has also tallied the most points in a season (22) for the women's soccer program since Ortiz (24) in 2011.
    •    Natalie Turok made her first career start in goal for the Fighting Knights, recording two saves.
    •    Lynn moved to 3-5-1 this season in games decided by one goal or less.

UP NEXT:
The Fighting Knights end the regular season 6-9-1 overall and 3-6-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.  Lynn returns 19 letter winners for 2018.
