Women's Tennis Soars over No. 3 Keiser

BOCA RATON, Fla. – A 3-0 start through doubles play was all Lynn University's top-ranked women's tennis team needed to breeze through a talented Keiser University squad on Wednesday evening. The Fighting Knights then got help from the back end up their singles lineup in a 7-2 defeat over NAIA's third-ranked Seahawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Lynn pieced together a 3-0 lead through doubles play.
  • Eliska Petrackova and Natalie Kallmunzerova, playing together for the first time, posted an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles while Federica Mordegan and Eleonora Liga won at No. 3, 8-3.
  • Klaudia Boczova and Diana Bogolii were in a tight match at the top flight before pulling away for an 8-5 triumph.
  • Keiser got on the board quickly in singles after Bogolii was forced to retire early on at No. 2.
  • Boczova handled NAIA's eighth-ranked Daniela Farfan at the top flight, 6-0, 6-4.
  • Mordegan and 27th-ranked Aleksandra Grela went back and forth at No. 3 singles, before Keiser secured its second and final point of the day in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-3).
  • 15th-ranked Kallmunzerova took care of business at No. 4 to assure the Lynn victory, taking down 17th-ranked Julianna Heino with a pair of 6-1 frames.
  • Liga surrendered just two games in her triumph at No. 5 while Anastacia Parkin entered the lineup at No. 6 and grinded out a 9-7 pro set win.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Petrackova made her Blue and White debut.
  • It was the first-ever matchup between Lynn and Keiser, following last season's rain cancellation. The two schools had met 11 times when Keiser was Northwood (Fla.).
  • Keiser is ranked No. 3 in the NAIA National Coaches Poll.

UP NEXT:
Lynn hits the road for the first time this season coming up this weekend with a trip to Valdosta, Ga. for a pair of South Region matches.
