Fighting Knights fall to the Tars

Boca Raton, Florida - The Fighting Knights struck first, but they ultimately weren't able to keep the momentum, as they fell to Rollins 4-1.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • The first half was a back and forth affair with both teams getting plenty of opportunities. In all the Fighting Knights had five shots on goal to the Tars two, but the Tars had a few favorable runs that resulted in shots wide of the net.
  • Lynn jumped out to the 1-0 lead when Savannah Jackson scored her first goal as a Fighting Knight off a pass from Anniina Sankoh. For Sankoh, who came into Saturday night leading the nation in goals, it was her first assist of the season.
  • The Tars fought back and scored the equalizer in the 42nd minute when Briyah Drayton was able to beat Sofia Manner for her third goal of the season.
  • The second half was all Rollins, as the Tars put three goals on the scoreboard to leave Bobby Campbell Stadium with the victory.
  • The Fighting Knights had opportunities throughout the game. They took 10 corner kicks to only four for Rollins, but they weren't able to beat Tars' goalkeeper Noel Miller, who finished the game with six saves.
  • Lynn outshot Rollins 11-9 and put seven shots on goal compared to six for the Tars.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Two minutes into the second half there was a lightning delay which delayed the game for over one hour.

UP NEXT:

The Fighting Knights will begin a two-game road trip on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. when they travel to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern.
