Davie, Fla. - The Lynn Fighting Knights women's soccer team opened play on Friday night with a hard-fought draw on the road against SSC-foe Nova Southeastern. The game will not count toward conference records.

STATS OF THE GAME:

• Anniina Sankoh scored her first goal of the regular season when she netted one from the edge of the box in the 17th minute of the game.
• The goal woke up the Sharks, who responded when Dani Correa scored on a penalty kick in the 30th minute.  
• Lynn goalkeeper Sofia Manner had a phenomenal regular-season debut, stopping five shots, including two diving saves.
• The Fighting Knights put up nine shots in regulation, the same amount that the Sharks put up in the first half. However, Lynn outshot the Sharks 2-1 in overtime and controlled the tempo of both extra periods.
• Sankoh and Dorthea Glorud led the Fighting Knights with three shots each.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• The best chance to break the tie in regulation came for the Sharks, when, in the 87th minute, they put a shot off the post. 
• After that, most of the chances came from Lynn. The Fighting Knights were on the offensive for almost the entirety of overtime, always seeming just moments away from netting the game-winner.
• In the Sunshine State Conference preseason coaches poll, Nova Southeastern was picked to finish third in the league. Though this matchup will not count toward the SSC standings, it does indicate that Lynn and Nova Southeastern may be much more even than the SSC preseason poll suggests.

Lynn will travel to Flagler College to take on the No. 1 ranked team in the country. Kickoff is set for Wednesday, September 8 at 6:00 p.m.
