BOCA RATON, Fla. – After a rather mundane first half, Lynn University and Tampa combined for five goals in the second 45 minutes of action and the Fighting Knights emerged with a 3-2 win over the Spartans in a key SSC match.
The three goals tie a season-high for the men as they improve to 5-3-5 overall and 5-2-2 in the league. Lynn currently sits in second place in the league standings with a week to go in the regular season. The Fighting Knights haven't suffered a loss in over a month and are 5-0-2 in their last seven conference games.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Each team registered just one shot in the opening half, but Lynn held a 7-4 edge in shots in the second stanza
- The Fighting Knights scored on their first opportunity of the second stanza when the Spartans were whistled for a foul inside the 18

Michael Knoetzinger was awarded the penalty kick and he buried the shot in the right side of the net past a diving Adam Forster for a 1-0 cushion just 46 seconds in the second half
- It was his fourth penalty kick goal of the season and second in as many games
- Knoetzinger had a hand in Lynn's second goal of the evening as he hit a pass up the field to a charging
Patrick O'Halloran who maneuvered through the defense and around the keeper for a goal at 54:33
- O'Halloran scored again less than three minutes later when he found the back of the net off a pass from graduate
Kyle Patton as Lynn quickly led 3-0
- Omar Thali put the Spartans on the board in the 76
th minute when he scored on a PK that cut into the deficit
- O'Halloran tried to complete the hat trick in the 82
nd minute but his shot was saved by a diving Forster
- Till Neumann brought the scoring to a close in the 87
th minute when he scored an unassisted tally for Tampa

Luca Clavero picked up the win in net for the Fighting Knights stopping two shots and playing the full 90 minutes
