TAMPA, Fla. – The Lynn volleyball team fell behind 2-0 before rallying to send its key Sunshine State Conference match with No. 8 Tampa to a fifth and decisive set. However, the Spartans pulled away from the Fighting Knights to earn a 3-2 match win, Saturday.
The loss is the second-straight for Lynn as it falls to 16-5 overall and 8-4 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn fell behind 2-0 after the Spartans took the first two sets 25-17 and 26-24
- The Fighting Knights used that game two momentum to take game three and four, 25-20 and 25-19
- Tampa closed out the match with a 15-10 win in the fifth set
- The Spartans never trailed in the opening game and they used a late 7-1 surge to earn the win
- The Fighting Knights rebounded in the second set to hold leads of 9-4 and 14-9. Sophomore
Aline Olegario smacked three kills to help Lynn to the two leads

Nikolija Katanic posted two kills that helped Lynn to an 18-14 lead before Tampa slowly pulled back into the set. Two quick points gave the hosts a 23-22 lead and two more points sealed the win at 26-24

Paige Barash smacked back-to-back kills as Lynn took an 11-8 lead in game three and senior
Nadia Lindner had two kills as the Fighting Knights led 15-11
- Blocks from Olegario and Katanic and a kill from Barash gave the Fighting Knights the 25-20 win
- Lynn evened the match at 2-2 after winning game four 25-19. The Fighting Knights used a 7-1 run for an 11-4 lead. Olegario smacked a kill and then joined Katanic for a block as Lynn led 20-15
- The Fighting Knights earned the win behind 5-1 run and sophomore
Isabella Gentile closed the set with an ace for the 25-19 final
- Lynn never led in the fifth and decisive set but kills from Olegario, Mazzoleni and Lindner kept the Fighting Knights within one on several occasions
- Katanic had her final kill of the match pull Lynn to within 9-8, but Tampa used a 4-0 run to take control and earn the 15-10 win

- Lindner led all players with 18 kills, while Barash had 15
