BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University volleyball team scooted to its sixth-straight win on Saturday afternoon with another dominating effort at home, this time with a 3-0 shutout of Embry-Riddle.
A closer look at the winning streak reveals that the Fighting Knights have won five of those six matches via shutout and four of those victories have come in the friendly confines of the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center.
Lynn (12-3, 7-2 SSC) heads to the South Region Crossover event against the Gulf South Conference next week and the Fighting Knight opponents will be announced on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn never trailed in any of the three games against Embry-Riddle
- Lynn jumped out a 10-3 lead in the first set and quickly increased the lead to 10, 16-6
- A pair of service aces from senior
Paige Barash sealed the opening win 25-9
- The second set looked similar to the first as the Fighting Knights opened up a 9-2 lead behind a 6-0 run
- Embry-Riddle narrowed the deficit to two, 20-18, but the Fighting Knights scored five of the next six points for the win. Senior
Nadia Lindner smacked three kills during the final five points for Lynn
- The Fighting Knights kept their foot on the gas in the third set scoring the first six points for a 6-0 lead
- Runs of 4-0 and 5-0 increased the lead to 21-9
- Kills late in the set from graduate students
Kate Pestova and
Nikolija Katanic gave Lynn the 25-16 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT NUMBERS:
- Lindner collected a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs, while hitting .320
- Barash led the team with 14 kills, while Katanic had six kills and hit .556
