Jada Marone each scored in double figures as Lynn dropped a home SSC matchup with No. 16 Nova Southeastern, 72-56, Wednesday evening.
The Fighting Knights fall to 5-2 overall and 0-2 in the league with their first loss in four games.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn kept the game close over the first three quarters with the nationally-ranked Sharks
- Fiore hit a pair of free throws late in the third quarter and added a jumper, while Marone hit a three-pointer and Lynn trailed just 52-49 as the game headed for the fourth quarter
- The Sharks posted a 14-2 run in the fourth quarter to grab a 68-53 lead with 3:16 to play
- Nova later increased its lead to 72-56 at the final horn
- The contest featured four lead changes and five ties
- Fiore hit a three-pointer in the first quarter for a 7-5 lead for Lynn

Danielle Montelbano hit a free throw to pull Lynn to within one, 17-16 after the first quarter

Emilie Black opened scoring in the second frame with a layup as the Fighting Knights led 18-17
- Lynn extended its lead to six, 23-17 and 25-19 on baskets from Marone and Montelbano
- Fiore and Montelbano hit layups late in the half as the Fighting Knights led by two, 31-29
- Nova connected on a late layup to tie the game at 31 at halftime
- Nova led throughout the third quarter, but Marone pulled Lynn to within one, 43-42 on a layup with 2:41 to play
- Fiore hit two foul shots and Marone hit another three to keep Lynn within two as the game headed for the fourth
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Fiore led all players with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting with four rebounds
- Marone finished with 16 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals
