Lynn men defeat Atlantis, 69-61

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Freshman Esteban Lluberes hit a driving layup with 5:55 to play in the game that gave Lynn the lead for good en route to a 69-61 win over Atlantis, Tuesday night.
 
The contest featured nine lead changes and four ties as Lynn emerged with its second victory of the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lluberes came off the bench to finish with a career and team-high 22 points
- He scored 22 of Lynn's 24 bench points
- The Fighting Knights shot 44.7 percent from the floor on 21-of-47 shooting
- Lynn knocked down seven three-pointers and made 20-of-27 foul shots
- Atlantis led by 10, 21-11 with 9:14 showing in the first half clock
- Lynn collected a 17-7 run over the final 4:37 to lead 34-30 at halftime
- Sophomore Montez Leath pulled the Fighting Knights within one, 23-22 with a three-pointer at 4:03
- Leath connected on his second three with 1:41 to play that tied the game at 28
- Junior Braxton Bartlett hit two foul shots late in the half to help Lynn to the 34-30 cushion
- Atlantis rallied early in the second half to tie things at 42 with 14:17 to play
- Lluberes hit a three-pointer at 10:07 as Lynn led 49-45
- Jarves Hunt hit a fastbreak layup at 7:59 as Atlantis led 52-49
- Lluberes' layup at 5:55 gave Lynn the lead for good and he connected on six foul shots inside the final minute to push the final score to eight, 69-61
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lluberes finished 6-of-8 from the field and 8-of-8 at the free throw line
- Ricky Ballard scored 11 points and Leath finished with 10
- Freshman Nordin Kapic scored nine points with 10 rebounds
