HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Fighting Knights gave up two runs in the top of the second inning, which allowed the Sailfish to take the early lead.
  • Lynn wasted no time in cutting into the deficit, as they scored one run in the bottom of the second. Morgan Simpson walked, then stole second base. With Simpson in scoring position, Aryana Galioto hit a single to left field, bringing home Simpson to make it a 2-1 game heading into the third inning.
  • After a quiet third inning, the Sailfish added to their lead with four runs in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead.
  • The Fighting Knights struck back in the bottom of the fourth with two runs. Monique Poitevin got things started with a single to left field in the first at bat of the inning. It was followed by a Faith Miller walk, then a sacrifice bunt from Simpson. With two outs and runners on second and third, Taylor Scala put the ball in play and reached on an error. This allowed Poitevin to score. Scala then stole second, which allowed Miller to steal home and cut the lead to 6-3.
  • The fifth and sixth innings were scoreless for both teams. The Sailfish then put things away for good, scoring six runs in the seventh.
  • Janelle Dominguez would drive in two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough to bring Lynn back.
