No. 3 Fighting Knights defeat Sailfish to remain undefeated

Boca Raton, Florida - The Fighting Knights took down the Sailfish in dominant fashion to remain undefeated on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Fighting Knights fell behind 1-0 in doubles, after the third doubles team of Gianmarco Amatiste and Nicolas Cabrera fell 6-2. However, the duo of Lucca Baptista and Diego Gonzalez would even things up at 1-1 by taking first doubles by a score of 6-3.
  • With the doubles point on the line, the team of Will Kirkman and Ignacio Martinez were able to hold off their opponents by a score of 6-4 to secure the 2-1 doubles victory for the Fighting Knights and give them the 1-0 lead heading into singles.
  • Gabriele Felline won fourth singles in dominant fashion 6-1, 6-1. The win gave Lynn a 2-0 lead.
  • In third singles, Martinez defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-1 to give Lynn a 3-0 lead and put them one point away from victory.
  • The match would be wrapped up when Amatiste defeated his opponent 6-0, 7-5 in fifth singles.
  • Keeping the shutout alive, Gonzalez won first singles 6-3, 6-4.
  • Baptista would lose second singles by a score of 7-5, 6-2 to give the Sailfish their first point of the match.
  • Dan Kaplun lost the first set of second singles 6-4, but then battled back to take the second set 6-1. In the third set, he was able to take down his opponent 10-8 to give Lynn the 6-1 victory.

The Fighting Knights will be at home again later this week when they welcome Keiser University on Thursday, Mar. 3 at 3 p.m.
