Fighting Knights bounce back with win over No. 15 Argos

Valdosta, Georgia - After losing for the first time all season, the Fighting Knights wasted no time in getting back to their winning ways, taking down national No. 15 West Florida 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Fighting Knights' doubles teams rebounded from losing their first point of the season yesterday, by sweeping the Argos. The 49th-ranked pair of Will Kirkman and Ignacio Martinez won first doubles 6-3 and Diego Gonzalez and Lucca Baptista shut out their second doubles opponent, 6-0. The third doubles team of Ryan Neale and Nicolas Cabrera didn't finish their match, but they were winning 5-3 when it ended.
  • In singles play, the Argos were able to secure points in first singles and fourth singles. However, the Fighting Knights would win the other three points to secure victory.
  • No. 32 Baptista won third singles 6-4, 6-2 to earn Lynn their second point.
  • Gabrielle Felline then won sixth singles 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 to put Lynn within one point of winning.
  • Gianmarco Amatiste secured the win by defeating his opponent 6-4, 7-5.
  • The second singles matchup between Lynn's nationally ranked Martinez and the Argos national No. 41 Facundo Bermejo was abandoned after Lynn clinch the match. They were in the third set.

Lynn will return home to take on Saint Leo on Saturday, Apr. 2 at 10 a.m.
