16th-ranked Fighting Knights take down 28th-ranked Mocs

Lakeland, Florida - The Fighting Knights traveled to Lakeland to take on the Mocs, and they picked up their fifth conference win of the season by a score of 5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lynn won the doubles point by winning all three matchups. The 32nd-ranked team of Lucca Baptista and Diego Gonzalez got things going by taking second doubles by a score of 6-2.
  • The doubles point was clinched when the 19th-ranked pair of Will Kirkman and Ignacio Martinez won first doubles 6-4.
  • Ryan Neale and Nicolas Cabrera finished the clean sweep with a tight 7-6 (8-6) victory.
  • In singles, Baptista picked up the second point for Lynn by winning second singles 6-3, 6-2.
  • Gabriele Felline then put Lynn within one point of clinching the match when he won fourth singles 6-4, 6-4.
  • Florida Southern picked up their first point when Cabrera fell in sixth singles.
  • Martinez wrapped up the match by winning third singles 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
  • Despite being unranked, Gonzalez won first singles 6-4, 7-6 (8-4) over the 54th-ranked player in the country, Valentin Hertweck.
  • Kirkman retired in the third set of his fifth singles match to give the Mocs their second point.

UP NEXT
The Fighting Knights will finish out the regular season with a home match against Embry-Riddle on Friday, Apr. 15 at 1 p.m. If Lynn wins, they will get the top seed in the SSC tournament which will take place later this month.
