Fighting Knights lose close game to Eagles

Daytona Beach, Florida - After losing last night in a doubleheader to the Eagles, the Fighting Knights faced them again today in a close game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Eagles broke out first with a three-run third inning. An RBI single and an error put the Eagles ahead 3-0.
  • In the fourth inning, the Fighting Knights took the lead. With Taylor Scala getting on first on an error then stealing second, a walk from Aymee Godmaire would set up an RBI single from Monique Poitevin.
  • Just after that Brittney Davis hit an RBI single to drive in Godmaire to be down by one.
  • With runners on second and third, a two-RBI single to right field from Karlie Sweiderk put the Fighting Knights ahead 4-3.
  • An RBI single for the Eagles would tie it up after Madison Prickett came in for Faith Miller in the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Eagles added another run in the bottom of the fifth and once again in the sixth to win 6-4.
  • Sweiderk went 2-3 with two RBIs.
  • Poitevin and Davis each had a hit with a run and an RBI.
  • Godmaire went 1-3 with a run.
  • Miller gave up one earned run on three hits in her three innings.
  • Prickett who got the loss allowed three earned runs on five hits in her three IP.
