Fighting Knights fall to Lions

Boca Raton, Florida - The Fighting Knights lost 5-2 to No. 8 Saint Leo, ending their eight-game winning streak and dropping them to 4-3 in the SSC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Fighting Knights dropped the doubles point when Saint Leo took the first and second doubles matches. Irina Lapustina and Barbora Cibakova were able to win third doubles 6-4.
  • In singles, Zofia Podbiol fell 6-0, 6-1 in second singles to the 25th-ranked player in the nation.
  • Jacqueline Wagner picked up a set in first singles, but she ultimately fell in three sets to national No. 33, Marta Vicens Miquel.
  • Karyna Bihel would drop fourth singles in straight sets, which allowed the Lions to wrap up the match.
  • No. 29 Giorgia Pigato won third singles 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 to give Lynn their first point of the day. 
  • Cibakova won in straight sets to give Lynn their second point.
  • In sixth singles, Lapustina lost to the No. 52 player in the nation.

UP NEXT
Lynn's home match against Embry-Riddle which was scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed. No makeup date has been announced yet. Lynn's next scheduled match is Tuesday. Apr. 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Rollins.
