HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Earlier in the year, when these two teams met in the regular season, the Fighting Knights handed the Bucs their first doubles loss of the season. However, the Fighting Knights weren't able to repeat the feat. They would lose the point when Barry took both second and third doubles.
  • In singles, 46th-ranked Jacqueline Wagner took on the No. 1 player in the country, Deniz Khazan, ultimately falling in straight sets.
  • Zofia Podbiol dropped second singles in straight sets to the 25th-ranked player in the country.
  • Tampa sealed the match with a straight-set victory in fourth singles over Lynn's Karyna Bihel.
  • The other matches would remain unfinished. The only match that was heading into the third set was third singles. 31st-ranked Giorgia Pigato picked up a 6-1 win in the first set over 45th-ranked Xiyao Wang. Wang won the second set 6-3.

UP NEXT
The Fighting Knights will play the third-place match tomorrow at 9 a.m. against Saint Leo. The first time these two teams met in the regular season, the Lions defeated the Fighting Knights 5-2.
