Fighting Knights fall to Lions in third-place match

Bradenton, Florida - The Fighting Knights took on third-seeded Saint Leo in the SSC third-place match, falling to the Lions for the second time this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Fighting Knights got off to a great start by winning the doubles point. In third doubles, Barbora Cibakova and Irina Lapustina won 6-2, then Jacqueline Wagner and Karyna Bihel won first doubles by a score of 7-5.
  • In singles, the Lions picked up their first point of the match by winning second singles.
  • Giorgia Pigato then defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-3 in third singles to give Lynn the 2-1 lead. 
  • The Lions would then rattle off three straight wins to clinch the match 4-2. They won each of their matchups in straight sets.
  • Fourth singles would remain unfinished with Bihel leading 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 3-2.

UP NEXT
The Fighting Knights will wait to find out if they are selected for the NCAA South Region Championships. If chosen, they will continue their season during May.
