Lynn falls at No. 2 Nova Southeastern

DAVIE, Fla.- Freshman Jimel Lane scored a team-high 28 points for the Lynn University men's basketball team in a 132-82 loss to second-ranked Nova Southeastern, Saturday.
 
The loss drops the Fighting Knights to 4-12 overall on the season and 2-9 in Sunshine State Conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights shot 32-of-66 from the field (48%) … 5-of-21 from beyond the arc (24%) … and 13-of-22 from the line (59%)
- The Sharks went on a 4-0 run to open the contest
- A layup from Lane opened the scoring for Lynn 3:03 into the game
- Freshman Nordin Kapic sank two free throws to tie the game 4-4
- The Sharks opened an eight-point lead five minutes into the first half
- Junior Jamison Evans cut the lead back to five after hitting a shot from three-point range, 17-12 at 14:31
- NSU went on a 10-point run halfway through the first and later stretched their lead to 25 late in the first half
- Freshman Jalen Gilmore closed out the first half for the Knights with a made layup to cut the deficit to 23
- Nova went on a six-point run to open the second half
- Freshman Ricky Ballard made a layup with 17:20 left in the game as Lynn trailed 73-39
- Evans scored two on a slam dunk assisted by Kapic with 7:49 left in the game as the score showed 105-63
- The Knights closed out the game with a three-pointer from freshman Ryan Weeks and a layup from sophomore Montez Leath
 
FIGHTING KNIGHTS STATS:
- Lane lead the Knights with 28 points along with six rebounds and six assists
- Kapic scored 14 points and added 6 assists
- Evans added 13 points
